I am a lecturer in the Journalism and Media Studies Dept. at San Diego State University. I also teach communications classes at

Palomar College.

My alma maters are Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, where I received my master's, and the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I earned a bachelor's in political science.

My professional background includes more than 12 years as an anchor/reporter for local network TV affiliates in Chico and Redding, CA; Boise, ID; and Fort Myers, Florida. I also logged a few years as a public information officer for the San Diego County Water Authority. Online, I've written numerous columns, articles and an ebook since leaving daily TV news reporting. 

I teach public affairs reporting and online journalism. My current research interest is media convergence on the Internet.
